Journalism has always intrigued me. My love for journalism is most likely fueled by my deep, passionate, love for sports. It has been a dream of mine for many years now to eventually be a sports writer for the Star Tribune, or any paper that would hire me for a column on their sports page.
I would consider myself a die-hard baseball fan. My parents grew up in Illinois so i have been raised to yell, scream, and cheer for the Cubs and the Bears. Through the years though I've developed a strong liking for the Twins as well, however if it came down to the World Series, the Windy City has my vote. I also love football but being a Bears fan can be very discouraging.
As i stated briefly in my "About Me," I live with my Father and Girlfriend. I'm 21 years old and currently working at Sears in Coon Rapids.
Reading the outline of this course I am looking forward to what it has to offer. I hope to better my writing skills and really take a step forward towards what I actually want to do in my life.

Kyle - If you'd like to get some experience as a sports writer, you might want to consider covering the new ARCC softball team. I know that the Ink Spot in Cambridge is looking for a sports reporter to cover the team. (I'm the faculty adviser for the Ink Spot.) The newspaper at the Coon Rapids campus, the Salmagundi, might also be interested in stories. Contact me via email if you'd like to talk more about it.
ReplyDeleteKyle,
ReplyDeleteGlad to see a strong interest of sports in you. Tough break on being raised by Chicago fans though; especially the Cubs(OUCH).
I would also recommend working with the InkSpot with Tesha. It's a great experience and very rewarding. I worked with them last semester and enjoyed it quite a bit.
Hey Kyle. As you saw in my blog, I do some sportswriting for the website Twinsmix.com
ReplyDeleteThey are looking for writers, so you might want to check them out if that would be something you're interested in.

Kyle,
ReplyDeleteWe do share a lot of similar goals. I would also love to be a sports writer someday. Writing about sports has always intrigued me. Maybe someday we will work together.
Hey Kyle,
ReplyDeleteI love sports as well! It seems like you have taken this course to become a Journalist, which I think is awesome! I am taking this class to see if writing is really what I would like to have a future in.
But a Cubs fan huh..? well that's better than being a WhiteSox fan I guess!
Kyle, It is awesome that your passion for sports can become a career in journalism. Being from Chicago I know how daunting being a Chicago fan can be in another state, but I applaud your loyalty to the Cubs and Bears. Unfortunatley, you are a better fan then I, after a year of living here, I converted to the Twins, simply becuase I knew their whole roster, and only knew like 2 people on the Sox, as for football.. DA BERS!!!
